What is a Field Benefits Consultants?

The Field Benefits Consultant is accountable for meeting / exceeding assigned sales quotas for the Individual & Family line of business.  Responsible to develop / cultivate  relationships with External Sales Channel; Providers; External Business Partners and Community Organizations; AvMed Prospects; and AvMed members, to support membership growth objectives. Develop and facilitate presentations to promote the AvMed Individual & Family products’ value propositions. Manage the external sales channel by continually building, training, and supporting external agents in assigned territory. The role is expected to provide ongoing engagement with AvMed members, delivering an exceptional member experience resulting in member satisfaction and retention. Must have expertise in the Individual & Family line of business, on and off exchange, including but not limited to benefits, regulations, process, competitive landscape, and emerging trends.

Important: This is a remote position but its also require to travel 80% of the time to the county assigned. Broward County, Palm Beach County or Pinellas County. 


Schedule and Shift:

  • Monday through Friday

  • 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to work on weekends when needed.  


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Works assigned territory, establishing and maintaining relationships with community organizations AvMed contracted providers, and retail locations to conduct Individual & Family marketing events to generate leads in order to present Individual & Family plans to prospective members in accordance with terms established by AvMed, CMS and the State of Florida, driving self- generated leads to the external agent channel and achieving assigned sales and retention goals. 

  • Recruit, acquaint and train external agents and brokers on AvMed Individual & Family products and secure commitments to achieve new sales and retention goals. Deliver effective presentations and on-going support to establish broker alliances, to ensure ability to close sales and/or retain AvMed members. Conducts ongoing agent engagement activities in collaboration the local market to educate agents on products, enrollment systems, and compliance and resource tools available.

  • Conducts outbound telephonic campaigns; participate in AvMed community member engagement activities; to provide ongoing support and excellent service to AvMed Individual & Family members, to promote high levels of member retention and satisfaction.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with network providers in assigned territory to ensure Provider satisfaction with plan; Provider understanding of AvMed benefits and identify Provider co-branding opportunities. 

  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.


The Ideal Candidate Will Have The Following:

  • Bilingual preferred with the ability speak, read, write English and Spanish 

  • They must have a reliable car and a valid Florida license. 

  • Florida Health Insurance (240) or Florida Health, Life & Variable Annuity (215)

  • AHIP & Regtap certification required or obtained within 2 weeks from hire.

  • Health insurance / Managed care experience; preferably Individual & Family / ACA sales experience.

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED

  • Preferred Education: Associates.

  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office: Word; Outlook; Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.



  • Up to 90k salary including commission.
