Despite widespread concern about the influence of AI on US workers’ lives, the majority don’t believe they will be personally affected. A study by the Pew Research Center finds that while 62% of Americans think the use of AI in the workplace will largely impact workers in the next 20 years, only 28% predict it will have a significant effect on them. Surprisingly, roughly half of respondents feel that AI won’t make any difference in their life or will only have minor effects.
The findings show that although US workers are aware of the potential consequences of AI in the workplace, many don’t believe it will have a direct bearing on them. As AI increasingly infiltrates the workplace, it is essential for people to understand the implications for their job prospects and how to prepare for the AI-driven future of work.
