Tesla has been ordered to pay more than $3 million in a racial discrimination lawsuit filed by a former employee. According to CNN, the worker in question, Marcus Diaz, had been employed through a staffing firm at Tesla’s Fremont, California factory. In 2021, a jury awarded Diaz a whopping $136.9 million. However, a judge didn’t accept this amount, deeming it excessive. Though Tesla had previously offered Diaz $15 million to settle the case, he rejected it and took the case back to trial, ultimately resulting in the $3 million ruling.

This ruling is yet another example of Tesla’s questionable practices and their refusal to genuinely address the issues of discrimination in the workplace. We can only hope that this verdict serves as a warning to other businesses that discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
