A recent job ad sparked debates online after setting a maximum of three jobs in the past decade as one of the criteria for applicants. While some praised the ad for its specificity, others argue that it is not the right way to select skilled workers.

“It would be more beneficial to have an open conversation with the applicant,” said Zahra Amiry, associate director of talent attraction at Omnicom Media Group, while speaking to Fortune. “I would not personally encourage my team to dismiss a candidate without understanding the reasons behind their job changes first.”

The ad has had many people questioning if the initiative was appropriate, which has raised the discussion of how to find the right workers for a given job. Is it appropriate to set a limit to the number of jobs someone can have in a given period, or should an employer take other factors into consideration?
