A significant percentage of temporary workers are not using talent platforms or work services platforms to find work, according to the results of the “North America Temporary Workers Survey 2023” report by Staffing Industry Analysts. In spite of the increasing popularity of these platforms, only 8.9% of survey respondents said they were using either a business-related talent platform or work services platform.

The report also showed that an overwhelming majority of temporary workers were unfamiliar with business-related talent platforms, with 73% saying they had never heard of them. Work services platforms grabbed slightly more attention, although only 38% of survey respondents were knowledgeable about their services.

Although the usage of both types of platforms was low, the results showed that those who do use them are utilizing their services to a far greater degree. Those taking part in the survey who were using a work services platform reported that, on average, 43% of their incomes came from such services, double the 2016 rate of 26%.

The survey collected the opinions of 4,299 temporary workers in North America and was conducted late in 2022. For more insights and data, those with a membership to Staffing Industry Analysts can access the full report.
