The demand for IT workers continues to vary across geographies and sectors, with the US experiencing a 0.29% decline in IT jobs in March compared to February. The decrease represents 15,800 fewer jobs and a 2.1% decline when compared to March 2020. In contrast, engineering employment rose by 3.06%, with an additional 82,500 engineering workers. Overall, the US had more than 5.3 million IT jobs in March, with an unemployment rate of 2.7%. According to Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance, “There is no single narrative that accurately describes the current market”, with some sectors engaged in layoffs that include tech workers, while other skill sets remain in high demand.
