Today on World Day for Health and Safety at Work, the World Employment Confederation is calling attention to the importance of worker safety, particularly for temporary workers. With research showing that temp workers are more likely to suffer from accidents within the first three months of their employment, the staffing industry is leading the charge to create safe, healthy working environments. From the United States to Switzerland, Spain, and Belgium, individual national staffing organizations, such as the American Staffing Association, Swissstaffing, Asempleo and Federgon, are introducing programs and initiatives to protect the wellbeing of temp workers. However, WEC says that there is still much work to be done in order to make the fundamental right to a safe working environment a reality.
