The pandemic of 2020 saw a sudden and very sharp increase in the number of temporary workers and internal staff working remotely. While the share of temp workers decreased to a median 10% in 2023, the share of internal staff remained higher at a median of 40%. For staffing firms, the overall effect of remote work was positive – with improved satisfaction and retention, easier recruiting, and improved team spirit/cooperation. But there are still operational challenges with staff training and development, internal communication, and team spirit/cooperation. To mitigate these problems, staffing firms have compiled their recommendations in the North America Staffing Company Survey 2023 report.
